Do you realize that?s upwards of 25% (one year ago this number was about 10%) of the best of the best Fitness & Nutrition podcasts airing online today providing information to their listeners that is accurate about eating more healthy fats, reducing the consumption of carbohydrates, especially refined ones, from your diet, and other key lifestyle interventions to make yourself as optimally healthy as possible? It?s not more of the same old low-fat, eat more healthy whole grain nonsense that has gotten us fatter and sicker than we?ve ever been! If the fact that there are so many Paleo, primal and low-carb friendly podcasts out there doesn?t make a huge statement that this way of eating is gaining in popularity by leaps and bounds and deserves a nationally-syndicated radio show RIGHT NOW, then I don?t know what does.
I?ve often shared with people that my dream one day in the not-too-distant future is to host such a show, sharing quality health and nutrition information with millions of listeners, booking engaging interview guests who can articulate the basic principles of nutrition that people are completely oblivious to right now, and inviting skeptical and intrigued listeners to call in to talk about these things in an open forum without the canned conventional wisdom answers that tend to get put out there by the media. If we?re ever going to change the way people think about what healthy living is, then we have to meet them where they are and offer up viable alternatives to what they currently believe. In the meantime, I guess we?ll just have to keep on taking over the iTunes charts with even more quality podcasts?and that could include YOU!
At PaleoFX in Austin, Texas last month I laid down a challenge to the people who attended one of the sessions I moderated on taking this health message to the mainstream. I told the audience there that if you like to write, then start a blog. If you enjoy talking, then you should start a podcast. I didn?t have experience doing either one of those things before I did it?and now I?m honored and blessed to have one of the best in both categories. Dream big or dream small?either way, you?ll hit your target!
Since returning from that conference I have been contacted by no less than five people who said they wanted to get in on the podcasting action and start their own shows. AWESOME! Many more have told me about their brand new blogs advocating for the Paleo low-carb principles. YES! All I can say is BRING IT ON! Once people start seeing us everywhere sharing truths about nutrition and health, then maybe they will start to embrace these concepts for themselves. If your life has been changed as a direct result of shifting to a Paleo, primal or low-carb plan, then we need your voice to join us in this battle for the hearts and minds of the people who desperately need answers for their weight and health woes. Are you willing to be the light in the life of someone who desperately needs education, encouragement and inspiration to start this journey?
If you decide to start your own blog, podcast or even YouTube video channel, drop me an e-mail at livinlowcarbman@charter.net. I?d be happy to assist in any way that I can. WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
