Summer is here and many of us will be traveling.? The thing about traveling with kids is that get very bored very easily. You can bring the standard DVDs, music, and such but why not play games with them instead. It keeps them entertained and allows you to have some quality time with them.
Our all time favorite is The People Next Door. What we do is make up stories about the people in the car next to us. The stories can be anything as long as it is not something mean. We even go so far as to guess at what their names may be. I Spy is always a favorite as well but when traffic is moving quickly it can be a bit tricky. Maps is a good one. Print out a map before you leave. Try to find one that your kids can color. Each time they see a license plate they color the state on their map. Whoever colors all of their map wins. We also play a License Plate game where before we leave decide on roughly 10 states. When the kids see a license plate from that state they keep tally whoever has the most wins. We have done this with counties within one state as well. I sometimes look up and print pictures of the license plates so that they will know what to look for.
Whatever game you chose your kids are going to love it and you will love that they are having a good time. No more ?He?s touching me!? from the backseat.
