Cold War with China -- Time for Media to Admit It (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | When will the media start admitting we are in a new Cold War with China? With cyberespionage, mysterious grids appearing on satellite images and President Barack Obama shifting more troops to Australia due to an aggressive China, everything points to a new Cold War. Why is it, though, that everyone is afraid to use the term?

Granted, there have been whispers in the past about a potential new Cold War with Russia, but the movements of China, and against China, point more toward a new showdown than anything that Vladimir Putin has said against the U.S. Most of the mainstream media, though, has been ignoring or underreporting the issues we are having with the red nation. Either the media is oblivious to what is going on or the idea of China being an enemy is intentionally being kept out of the press.

The media is having a field day with the harassment claims against Herman Cain, the issues at Penn State and the upcoming election. I can understand how things might get missed. It does not make sense it would disregard the fact President Barack Obama has been making threats of sanctions against China and is now gathering the troops.

It makes sense, though, the left-leaning side of the media would not want to cover very much about what is going on with China. Why would it want to put its candidate under the spotlight for potentially starting a new Cold War? Why would it want people to think its president might be preparing for a new showdown?

Fox News is the only channel that has been giving ample coverage to the showdown growing between the U.S. and China. While strong accusations have not filtered from the station or website, I am sure it is waiting for the right opportunity to make these moves by President Obama into a boost for Republicans. Even it is afraid to call this a new Cold War.

I believe everyone should take action and contact the news channels that are not giving attention to the Cold War with China. We all need to speak up tell and them they need to call a spade a spade and stop trying to ignore our current Cold War. Report the news that impacts all of us, not just what impacts the few.
