EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio -- East Cleveland Mayor Gary A. Norton Jr. had police escort Council President Joy Jordan from his office following a Thursday morning press conference about state audits.
Norton was talking to one reporter, and Jordan another, when she started talking over the mayor during his interview, disputing some of his statements.
At that point, Norton signaled to an aide, and moments later officers arrived.
Contacted later by phone, Jordan said, "Wow, I'm speechless. It was just another use of power. I thought it was unnecessary."
The mayor and council president have differed on budget cuts, including a near 50 percent cut of his compensation, down to $40,000.
