Eagle Soars to Women's Track and Field's Second Ever New ...

Northampton, MA --- Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) became just WPI's second-ever individual championship at the New England Division III Indoor and Track and Field Championships when she captured the high jump Saturday at Smith.? Eagle claimed the title with a height of 5-4.25 inches and joins teammate Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA), who won the 400 meters last year.? As a team, WPI totaled 24.33 points en route to a 12th place team performance.

Richard was another top performer for the Engineers, earning All-New England honors with a second place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 57.17. Richard was also seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 26.15. Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) placed fifth in the pole vault with a height of 11-5.75. Rounding out the All-New England performers was Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA), who came in eighth in the high jump at a height of 5-0.25. Davis was also ninth in the 60 meter hurdles with a 9.99.

The 4x400 relay team, with Maya Rhinehart (Springfield, MA), Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA), Caroline Allen (Norton, MA) and Richard came in tenth with a time of 4:06.29. In the weight throw, Kimi Joback (Bedford, NH) threw for 44-4.75, good for 11th place. Rhinehart was 12th in the 400, clocking in with a 1:01.90. Emily Hartzell (Brunswick, ME) was 16th in the pole vault with a height of 9-6.25. Allen was 17th in the 400 with a 1:03.47. Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) was 21st in the 60 meter hurdles (9.99), while Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) was 21st in the 1000 meters (3:11.47).

The Engineers travel to the All-New England Championships hosted by Boston University next Friday and Saturday.
